TEMPORARY HOUSES
TEMPORARY HOUSES WERE HANDED OVER TO 58 FAMILIES AFFECTED BY TSUNAMI

Families, having lost their members, all belongings and their livelihood were temporarily sheltered by Tamils Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) at welfare centre in the Roman Catholic school at Thanneeroottu. TRO looks after them meeting their immediate needs such as food, cloths, medical facilities and sanitation. Fifty eight of these families were handed over temporary houses by TRO on 05.02.2005 at 3.00 pm in pursuance of TRO’s second phase of rehabilitation of tsunami victims.
These 58 houses built by Seva Lanka under the coordination of TRO are located at Annamar Kovilady in Mullaitivu. Also present at the handing over ceremony were Mr Moorthy, one of TRO’s directors for relief and rehabilitation of tsunami victims for Mullaitivu district, Mr Sivanadiyar the president of the Non Government Organisation, Mullaitivu district and Miss Sumathy the Grama sevaka.
Each family were given Rs1000.00 by Mr Moorthy on top of items of goods such as required by a family for its day to day use, kitchen utensils and dry provisions.
