Children Affected by War (CAW) Project Issues School Equipment
Mr Malaravan the CAW spokesman reported that CAW issued school equipment to war affected schools from the Pallaiaga Division on the 23.06.04. The distribution was completed in collaboration with REERDO. Over one hundred children from Allipallai C.C. School, Pallai M.M.V. and Kovil Kanni M.V. will benefit under the scheme, in this its first stage. The Children Affected by War project is jointly sponsored by TRO and UNICEF.
Principals of the schools said their schools were badly affected by war. They especially mentioned the fact that the basic needs of the school have not been met. Problems with accommodation and toilet facilities have not been fulfilled even after the resumption of the peace process two years ago. These problems make it difficult to maintain a safe learning environment. They have been anticipating help from NGOs the principals said and they are looking forward to assistance in any form.
